No Starbucks here!
On to Olomouc (pronounced olla moats), a GORGEOUS university town with a UNESCO World Heritage town square, where the lovely gloaming light made it even more magical.
Now, will blogger let me upload all those photos?
Fish anyone?
The bread was bursting out of the stalls.
Little Red Riding Hood must shop here.
Spam, spam, spam, spam ... Oh, no, it's pate!
It might be something about chickens.
Flowers anyone? That's less than one U.S. Dollar for a bunch of roses.
That's the line to buy raspberries and strawberries. They must be really good.
We headed out into the Czech countryside about noon.
We stopped in Brno for a bite to eat. It is a city equal in beauty to Prague, but doesn't get the same press, or crowds.
This is a time keeping obelisk that commemorates the defeat of a Swedish army set on conquering Brno by noon (some day a long time ago). The townspeople found this out, and at 11:00 rang the bell 12 times, and the Swedish army left.
Stewart would like everyone to know that parking is a great deal here in Brno. We paid a machine 20 krona (less than a dollar) and were given a ticket to park for 2 days. We stopped at Villa Tugendhat as well (sorry no photos). This is the house that the novel "The Glass House" is based on. It was the site of the signing of the document that separated the Czech Republic from Slovakia.
Yes blogger did let you upload! They look very good even on my phone! What is gloaming light?
